BY70-2

The small Xibaipo (BY 70-2) will carry out science experiments such as image and voice data transmission from orbit. Mainly used for the promotion of youth space science education, the satellite is equipped with programmable educational software, a small remote sensing camera and a sky-to-earth comparison experiment payload, which can realize the function of comparing ground image data with satellite remote sensing data and physical experiment data.

BY70-2 is a project led by China Center for Aerospace Science and Technology International Communications for school education and amateur radio. The amateur radio station onboard will provide telecommand, telemetry and FM repeater functions. BY70-1 is a 2U Cubesat with a volume of about 10x10x20 cm3 and a mass of about 2 kg.
2 dipole antennas are mounted horizontally and vertically. The satellite is 3-axis stabilized. The subsystems within the satellite provide the following functions: communication, electric power supply, on-board data handing, attitude determination and control, structure and thermal control, and payload. The satellite is powered by deployable solar panels and Li-ion batteries. The solar panels can generate 10 W of power in sunlight. The capacity of the Li-ion batteries is 30 Wh. The long-term power consumption is about 4 W in total, include COM, OHDH and AOCS. The power budget is about 60% while payload off and in sunlight.

Telemetry

81 bytes form a complete CCSDS TM Space Datalink frame, but with a shorter 5-byte header. This short header is also used in the UHF downlink of the Longjiang 1/2 moon orbiter.

There are two important telemetry frames. The first contains data from the integrated STM32 microcontroller.

China launched a new remote sensing satellite on Friday from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. Launch of the Gaofen multi-mode integrated imaging satellite took place at 03:10 UTC from the LC9 launch Complex using the Long March-4B (Y43) rocket. The new remote sensing satellite was accompanied by the small Xibaipo (BY 70-2) on its ride to orbit.
