AMSAT INDIA an organization for the Indian Amateur Radio satellite programme received a consent letter from ISRO in January 2019 for providing a Amateur Radio APRS payload to be part of the PSLV PS4 experiment.
The APRS payload bolted to the PS4 stage will be brought down to 485 Kms orbit post the completion of the primary mission and subsequently, the APRS payload will be powered on.
AMSAT INDIA & Exseedspace entered into an agreement where Exseedspace will design and build the APRS payload with inputs from AMSAT INDIA.
The payload was realized in record time by ExseedSpace team to be available at ISRO for Thermo-vac, Environmental, Vibration and EMI/EMC tests. These tests were completed successfully under the guidance of M.R. Raghavendra, VU3GTI and B.A.Subramani VU2WMY who were deputed by ISRO as nodal contacts to work with AMSAT INDIA on this project.
The frequency used by this payload will be 145.825 MHz in line with other Amateur Radio 1200 bps APRS satellites and the path is AISAT (ARISS will also work). The launch is scheduled on April 1st 0927 India time (0357 UTC) on the PSLV C45 mission. APRS payload will be powered on at 0659 UTC on April 1st over 70N LON and 65E LAT (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Moscow). We request the Amateur Radio fraternity in these countries to report the first signals. We also request Radio Hams worldwide to use the APRS payload actively and satellite gateways to feed the traffic to findu.com.
